IT Network Infrastructure Project Manager (Engineer-First) – Freelance (3 days/week)

Our client is a global, innovation-driven industrial group with European headquarters in Belgium, responsible for steering strategy across the EMEA region.
The organization operates multiple production sites and sales offices, developing high-performance materials and solutions used across industries including automotive, electronics, healthcare, and manufacturing.

With a strong focus on sustainability, R&D, and continuous improvement, they combine a multinational structure with a collaborative, forward-thinking work environment.

Rather than a purely governance-driven project manager, you will act as a technical lead across multiple infrastructure initiatives, ensuring both the quality of solutions and their successful implementation.

Technical Leadership

• Act as technical lead on network and infrastructure-related projects
• Design, review, and validate solutions across LAN/WAN, security, and connectivity domains
• Translate business and IT requirements into feasible technical architectures
• Challenge vendors, integrators, and internal stakeholders on proposed solutions
• Ensure alignment with internal standards, security policies, and long-term maintainability

Project Delivery

• Manage multiple small to mid-sized infrastructure projects in parallel
• Define scope, timelines, dependencies, and risks in a pragmatic manner
• Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery
• Coordinate with internal IT teams, external partners, and vendors
• Provide clear and structured updates to stakeholders

Operational Mindset

• Stay close to the technical implementation and execution
• Ensure proper documentation, knowledge transfer, and operational readiness
• Support a smooth transition from project delivery to operations

Experience & Background

• Strong experience as a network and/or infrastructure engineer
• Proven track record in network-centric environments (enterprise or industrial is a plus)
• Experience in coordinating or delivering projects
• Able to manage multiple initiatives independently
• Senior level, with a hands-on and solution-oriented mindset

Technical Skills

• Solid knowledge of network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, routing, switching)
• Experience with firewalls and network security
• Familiarity with infrastructure integrations and vendor-delivered solutions
• Ability to engage in and lead technical discussions

Soft Skills

• Pragmatic and structured approach to work
• Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical
• Ability to maintain oversight without overcomplicating processes
• Comfortable in a dynamic environment with multiple parallel initiatives
